OVERVIEW

LCBOโ€™s mobile app allows users to order, reserve and browse the liquor boardโ€™s product catalog. The project required our team to introduce a complex promo code feature that would allow users to apply multiple codes and rebates prior to checkout. Sounds easy right?

PROJECT

LCBO provided us with full set of business requirements for the new feature as well as some insight and documentation regarding their design system. From the requirements, I created UX flows to detail all the possible conflicts that could be caused by the addition of layered promo codes. Once a clear path was in sight, I created the required screens and provided supporting component guides for the new elements using LCBOโ€™s existing documentation.

Key challenges

- Navigating authenticated vs. guest experiences, and the conflicts raised by rebates that require shipping information prior to checkout.
- Front loading the checkout form due to Apple pay restrictions which resulted in a poorer user experience.
